Spoons Not Forks!

Huh…?

Would you try to eat tomato soup with a fork? Of course not, all that soup is going to spill through the gaps and none of it will get to your belly where it belongs.

How does this apply to swimming you ask?

One of the more common and simple mistakes swimmers of all ages make is that they do not position their fingers and hands in a way that is going to make the pull section of the stroke most efficient.

It really is a simple fix that one just needs to be conscious of with each arm stroke.

Close your fingers and don’t have a floppy wrist. Imagine an oar for a boat or kayak.

You don’t try to row a boat with a pitchfork or a string mop, so don’t try to swim with open fingers and wimpy wrist positioning.

Pay attention to what your hands and fingers are doing in your strokes and get the most out of each pull so you don’t have wasted movement.

As always, “Swim Like You Mean It!”
