FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Single-Origin coffee is a term used widely and by itself, is vague at best.
Roasters that advertise Single-Origin may source their green coffee beans from a single farm, possibly multiple farms from the same country, or they could just mean a blend of the coffees grown from that country.
We strive to consistently use the same farm for each of our coffees. As we grow, if this can’t be achieved, then we will strive to use farms within the same region.
Every bean has a unique taste and these will vary from farm to farm. Blending beans from different regions, diminishes your ability to appreciate the unique tastes of the origin of those beans.
Cupping is a fancy way of saying that we are continually tasting and testing the quality of our coffees by pulling product during production and tasting them. We taste them for Acidity, Aroma, Body, Flavor,
We do this for two reasons, the first is that we want to ensure that your coffee is fresh and delicious. If it’s not, then we will throw out those beans and start again. This is a methodical process and happy to expand on our quality processes if interested.
The second, is because it’s free, we work here and we love to drink coffee. Since we are stuck here at work all day, we pull bags all day and “test” our coffee…a lot!
There are a lot of specialty roasters! As a scrappy startup company, we appreciate you and want to provide you with the best tasting coffee we are capable of producing.
More importantly, we enjoy what we do, and that passion shows in every bean we roast.
