Welcome to Calvary Baptist Church

The mission of Calvary Baptist Church is to love God, to love others, and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. The vision of our church is

  • to glorify our God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
  • to make disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support,
  • to minister the ordinances to edify believers,
  • To do all that is humanly possible and biblically permissible to magnify the name of Jesus.

Calvary is dedicated to helping Christians know

  • WHAT they believe,
  • WHY they believe it,
  • HOW to live it and share it,
  • and WHERE to find it in scripture by providing wise instruction from God’s Word, the Bible, about how to think and reason scripturally.

HAVE A PASSION FOR PEOPLE? WHERE CAN YOU SERVE?

One of our most important values at Calvary Baptist Church is our mission to the world which we believe begins in our community, and then spreads overseas to every nation. No matter what your God-given gifts are, Calvary desires to put them to His use. Whether you serve as a mentor, a greeter or an extra pair of hands, followers of Jesus with a spirit for service are needed for countless volunteer opportunities in our church family.

HELPING BELIEVERS WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH

  • Worship is not about us!  Worship is ultimately for God, not us.  Worship is about loving God back (1 Chronicles 16:27-292 Kings 17:36).
  • Worship is an active response to the goodness of God, not just for what He has DONE, but for who He IS — God is king; God is holy and righteous; God is the Creator; yet God chose us through His sovereign grace!  Therefore, we must worship (Psalm 22:27).
  • Worship is intentional and purposeful.  It is not about “style” but rather about substance.  So, we will use music, poetry, drama, multimedia, etc. from old to new to draw attention to HIM.
  • Worship can be inspiring, and it can be convicting; depending on your needs.  The wonder of the ONE we worship is that He meets us where we are!  Whatever your need on that day, in that hour…God can meet your need; it may be through laughter, or it may be through tears.  It may be through loud thunder, or it may be through a still, small voice.  The key is to prepare your heart to meet God.

TODAY THOU SHALT BE WITH ME IN PARADIS

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:39-43).

One second after you shut your eyes to life on this earth, you will either be enjoying a personal welcome from Jesus Christ or catching your first glimpse of hell. Either way, your future will be irrevocably fixed and eternally unchangeable.”

Luke recorded a short yet powerful story that pictures two men about to die. When Jesus was being crucified, two thieves hung alongside Him. According to Mark, both men hurled insults at Jesus (15:32).

One of the thieves, however, had a change of heart as he realized Jesus’ innocence, his own sin, and his destiny. He rebuked the other thief and asked Jesus to remember him when He came into His kingdom. These words were a sign of repentance and simple faith. Jesus responded, “I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43). Salvation for the man was immediate. He knew that day where he would spend eternity.

Realizing that we are sinners, turning from that sin, and placing our trust in Jesus’ death and resurrection assures us that we can immediately know where we will spend our eternal tomorrows when our life on this earth is over. If you have never made that decision today could be your day of salvation. Like the thief call out to Jesus before it is eternally too late.
